1) The purpose of this article or the beginning of the article anyway is to show/tell about immigration in America around the 1900s.
2) For one thing in the beginning more and more immigrants were allowed in the early 1900s. Certain tests needed to be taken before entering the U.S. and then later on they stopped letting people in. One other thing was that the population in the U.S. became to great in the late 1900s, and that's when America closed the doors for immigration.
3) They will possible be a major part of the future American immigration because they will know more about their previous heritage then the next generation.
4) The second generation immigrants should be studied because they will know more about their previous culture or religion then the next generations. They will lose more and more of their culture and will get more used to the "American Way" kind of deal.
